The position of women in Kurdish literature
19 April 2009
How come that women hold no prominent position in Kurdish literature? Creation is a product of our ratio and our thought. Expression in the shape of tales, poetry and essays is an individual cultural process. In the patriarchal Kurdish society the individual has been oppressed, self expression is not appreciated. Literature is able to develop in freedom, but various cultural, mental, political and religious obstacles are surrounding both men and women. Yet for women there are more obstacles and they are more severe.
Poet Dlsoz Hama gives an introduction and after the break she will recite poems.
The organisation and presentation of the afternoon are in the hands of Berivan Hamasaid.
